Yoga Foundation Course in 2020

Through the madness of 2020 we successfully continued with our course in shorter half days online. As we had all met up with our first session in the new year in the hall we could carry the feel of the live group atmosphere of this great group of folk intact.

Part of the Foundation journey is discovering the joy of yoga that suits us, & its adaptability to give us what we need in this moment. Zoom enabled us to continue but great relief when finally Covid restrictions ceased so we could be together, and even the sun smiled on us! Next one in person though we have zoom as a backup if needed.

The course

The full course is across ten days: Saturdays in Cumnor Old School and Sundays in Old Headington, hoping for Summer and possible al fresco yoga. Additional fees are registration fee of £60, BWY membership of £34 and two course yoga books which we can purchase with group discount. My yoga library will be available of books, magazines and some media.

Dates 2023:
The ten Saturdays are spread monthly across the 9 months, and try to avoid half-term and bank holiday weekends. As soon as we have dates please put these in your diary now to ensure you don’t miss any of the course.

What can the course give you? For most the course with like minded folk who enjoy yoga find it a fascinating course of self discovery and development. The Foundation gives a wide overview and taster of many of the aspects of yoga.

Next Steps:
Students have gone onto further study with the Yoga Foundation course II, and range of different modules, such as Meditation and Pranayama offered by BWY and affiliated bodies.

This course is not a teaching qualification course but is a great introduction and preparation to then go onto to train fully with a yoga teacher training course. Our local teachers come and introduce themselves to you and discuss the BWY Teaching Diploma qualification course available locally for you to apply for if your next step.

Previous Students in their favourite poses

It has always such a privilege teaching the Foundation courses. Each years group is all down to the wonderful students who came with open minds and hearts. Each have created the group atmosphere, been considerate to each other and shared their stories, some difficulties, good humour and honesty, and some great baking and shared lunches. Can't wait for the next group to begin!

Om or Aum in nature

Lorna enjoyed Patanjali’s advice to help sit with ease in pranayama and meditation. Angela and Michele found the most from Asanas like Trikonasana and balance of Vrkasana. A creative OM in with Autumn vibrancy. We do al fresco yoga if weather allows! Come and join us?

The Venues

The main venue for the Yoga Foundation course is the Old School in Cumnor. Fingers crossed for a couple of days in Old Headington allow us to enjoy al fresco yoga, if the weather permits.

Cumnor is accessible by bus no 4 connecting from central Oxford and the central train station and bus link to villages through to Abingdon. Likewise Old Headington Village hall links with no. 13, which gives us some space outside for yoga alfresco weather permitting.

Introduction Day for Yoga Foundation Course

There will be an introduction morning in December/January with shared lunch to follow. A great taster of the course and to meet the other students and discuss course content etc. Do get in touch for full details call: 07931 743785 or email. Ring for a chat about the course and your journey starting.
